Meet Dr. Hunt
The comfort of a place you already know.
Needing surgery does not always mean starting over with a new dental office. Vanguard brings Dr. Hunt and his surgical assistant into participating practices, so appropriate surgical care can take place alongside the dental team you already know.
Your dental office remains your point of contact for scheduling, billing, and arranging office visits. Dr. Hunt plans and provides your surgical care and offers direct support for postoperative questions and concerns. The teams work together to coordinate your treatment and follow-up.
Your health, treatment needs, and the capabilities of the office determine where care is appropriate. Some patients or procedures require referral to another provider or facility.

Tell us what worries you. We will start there.
Anxiety is personal. You may be concerned about discomfort, a past experience, the procedure itself, or simply not knowing what to expect. Dr. Hunt takes time to understand those concerns, walk you through the plan, and answer your questions without rushing the conversation.
You are welcome to request a consultation with Dr. Hunt before your surgery date. Let your dental office know that you would like time to meet him and talk through your care.

A comfort plan that fits you.
Oral sedation and IV moderate sedation are available for appropriately selected patients. Sedation can help you feel more relaxed and may reduce your memory of the procedure. With moderate sedation, you can still respond to verbal directions or gentle touch; it is not the same as general anesthesia. Experiences and recall vary.
Local anesthesia is used to numb the treatment area. Dr. Hunt will discuss the proposed sedation approach, its risks and alternatives, and whether it is suitable for your health and procedure. Sedation is not required or appropriate for every patient.
Treatment planned around your needs.
Your examination, health history, imaging, and goals guide the recommended treatment. Services include:
Tooth extractions & wisdom teeth
Removal of teeth when needed, including complex extractions and impacted wisdom teeth.
Dental implants
Single and multiple implant placement to support replacement teeth, coordinated with your dental team.
Bone grafting & sinus augmentation
Procedures that may help prepare an implant site when additional bone is needed, including vertical and lateral sinus augmentation.
Full-arch reconstruction
Implant-supported replacement of an entire upper or lower arch of teeth, with a coordinated surgical and restorative plan.
Oral & IV moderate sedation
Individualized options to help manage anxiety and support comfort during appropriate procedures.
Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF)
A material prepared from a small sample of your own blood that may be used with grafting or placed at surgical sites as part of your treatment plan. Its use does not guarantee a particular healing outcome.
Not every procedure or sedation option is suitable for every patient. Recommendations, recovery, and results are individual.
Know what happens next.
Your dental office and Vanguard coordinate the details so you know who to contact and what to expect.
01
Start with your dental office
Contact the office that introduced you to Vanguard. Its team will coordinate scheduling, collect the needed records, and help you understand the next steps. If you would like to meet Dr. Hunt before your surgery date, ask the office to arrange a consultation.
02
Review your needs and plan your care
Dr. Hunt reviews your health information and the records needed for your procedure. A separate advance consultation may not be necessary for some routine cases, but this is determined clinically, not simply by preference. Every patient still receives an evaluation, a treatment discussion, and an opportunity to ask questions. Treatment or sedation proceeds only after informed consent.
For more complex reconstruction, planning usually begins with photographs, a 3D dental scan (CBCT), and digital scans of your teeth and gums. After reviewing these records, Dr. Hunt meets with you to explain the proposed plan, alternatives, and anticipated stages of care.
03
Prepare with clear instructions
You will receive instructions specific to your procedure and sedation plan. Share your medical conditions, allergies, medications, supplements, and any recent changes in your health. Follow the team’s directions about food, drink, medications, and an escort. If anything is unclear, ask before your appointment; do not change prescribed medicines on your own.
04
Receive care with your team
On the day of surgery, Dr. Hunt and his surgical assistant work with the participating office’s team. Before treatment begins, there is time to review the plan and address remaining questions. If you receive sedation, you are monitored during care and recovery and given discharge guidance for your procedure.
05
Recover with a clear point of contact
You receive written aftercare instructions and Dr. Hunt’s direct contact information. Vanguard handles postoperative surgical questions and concerns, while your dental office helps coordinate in-office follow-up appointments. If further assessment or treatment is needed, the teams coordinate the next step.
A direct connection during recovery.
Every surgical patient receives Dr. Hunt’s personal cell phone number for postoperative questions and concerns. You may call or text him about urgent surgical concerns at any time, including after hours. This direct connection is part of his commitment to caring for you before, during, and after surgery.
Keep the contact information and written instructions provided at your appointment. Your dental office continues to handle scheduling and routine appointment coordination; Dr. Hunt and Vanguard address your surgical recovery concerns.
A call or text may not receive an immediate response. For a medical emergency, call 911. Do not wait for a call or text response.
A few answers before your visit.
Usually, no. Schedule through the dental office that introduced you to Vanguard. That office coordinates your appointment, records, and billing. If you have not been introduced through a dental office, see the guidance below about connecting with a participating clinic.
Your next step starts with a conversation.
You do not need to have every answer before asking for help with the next step.
Introduced by your dental office?
Contact that office to schedule care with Dr. Hunt or request a consultation. Let the team know any questions or concerns you would like to discuss. They will help coordinate your records, appointment, and treatment details with Vanguard.
